In just four days, I will set out on the road that has been a silent witness to so many stories – our beloved 1999 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor. Born a year before my mother first took the wheel, this graceful sedan spent the last five years weaving through Dutch lanes and city streets, a steadfast companion for driving to work, school runs, family outings, and countless errands. When I moved to the Netherlands, it became my trusted steed, carrying me through rain-soaked mornings and sunlit afternoons alike.
Now, as I prepare to transport her northward to Uppsala, it feels like honoring a cherished family heirloom. There’s an electric thrill in the countdown. In just 100 hours, the engine will roar to life for one more chapter. I imagine her, gleaming under Scandinavian skies, carrying the memories of Gouda’s canals and cobblestones as she crosses the border. Here’s to a safe journey, to honoring decades of heritage, and to all the new adventures waiting just beyond the horizon.
