Last Saturday dawned crisp and clear as our cherished 1999 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor rumbled to life—eventually—on its journey north. After weeks of restful slumber, her battery lacked the vigor to stir the engine. Fate, however, intervened in the form of two kindly strangers in a van. While I loaded extra winter tyres, they offered a spark of camaraderie that breathed new life into her classic heart. With engine purring, we rolled onto the highway bound for Rostock, the German port city where our next chapter awaited. As evening fell, the C230K glided on board the ferry to Trelleborg, settling into the hush of a night crossing. On deck, she rested among fellow travelers, her polished lines reflecting soft lantern light as the Baltic waves gently rocked her onward.

By Sunday’s bright morning, we coasted off the ferry into Sweden’s sunlit harbor. Each turn of the wheel felt like a salute to her storied past, honoring every road she’s known and every mile she’s yet to roam. Arriving safely at her Swedish sanctuary in Uppsala, the C230 Kompressor stands ready to write new memories in a land of fir forests and frozen lakes—proof that true automotive heritage transcends borders.
